Here are Elle and I enjoying a wobbly punch just before leaving New York. We followed the Carnival ship you can see in the background about 30 minutes later.

Trouble starts the first day. Someone had to be returned to the US for treatment. We had a great air show. I am not sure but, I think this may be the same type of helicopter Canada may or may not be buying. Who knows from day to day when our military will get half decent equipment.

The Zenith is just docking at Hamilton, the capital of Bermuda. We dock right on the main street. We stayed here for two and and half days then sailed for a couple of hours to St George and stayed another day and a half. This way, you get five days on the island using your ship as your sleeping and food source. Both accomodation and food on Bermuda are pricy.

Here I am, spendidly dressed I must say, with some of the ships entertainment. It was a 60's night.

These are the two Celebrity ships cruising to Bermuda the Zenith and Horizen. They are smaller ships so they can get through the narrow gap leading to St. George.

This is the famous Horseshoe Bay. One on the ten best beaches in the world. We stopped and swam at Warwick Beach which was a bit less crowded.

This is Warwick Beach. That's Elle on the left. Because we were at the tail end of Tropical Storm Alex, the waves were about ten feet or so. You really had a hard time standing up in the surf.

Here we are at one of the two places we had lunch on the island. Everything was so expensive. A shared sandwich and a beer was about $30 US.

This is just a nice shot at the south end of the island. Larger cruise ships, like the one in the distance, dock here but, they can't get into Hamiliton or St George.

This is a Moon Gate. If you getting married under one, it brings you good fortune. Elle and I will look for one in Japan.

This fishing boat was anchored in St. George's harbour awaiting Hurricaine Alex, the first storm of the 2004 season, to pass. It was a Tropical Depression by the time it reached Bermuda.

St George is the old capital of Burmuda with many winding streets. This is a view from the city back towards the ship.

Getting in and out of St George is a challenge as the channel is only fifteen feet wider than the ship on each side. The two Celebrity ships that sail to Bermuda from New York are about 45,000 tons each. Most of Celebrity's Caribbean ships are twice that size.

We met a great trio and visited them just about every night in the Fleet Bar which is located at the bow of the ship. They were from the Phillipines and spoke broken English but could sing all the old songs as well as some of the new ones. Often, Elle and I were the only ones there and we danced quite a bit. We met these guys often on the ship and I think they appreciated us coming to see them. It was a pity more people didn't.

On one of the earlier pictures I talked about Tropical Storm Alex. It produced twelve to fifteen foot waves coming back to New York. At one point the ship listed on its side for about forty minutes. Normally, you would see sky outside this window. Much of the perfume and a lot of jewellery was smashed in the shops. They had to rescue people swimming in the pool and the deck chairs literally flew around the outside lounge area. One lady at our lunchroom dining table was thrown accross the floor.
